Well, I'm sure I'll be called many unflattering terms, 'flake' comes to mind. Well, call me a starry eyed romantic, but I've fallen completely in love, based on a two month online and skype correspondence with a girl in Mexico. We both feel the same way and have become engaged and intend to marry when she arrives here. We're also both not very close with our families, don't have a huge amount of money to go on 'honey moons', aren't religious and don't care for a big ceremony, and aren't even particularly outgoing or sentimental to care about 'taking photos in front of things.' I totally would understand a Visa officer looking at this situation and wanting to simply reject it off hand. The evidence we have is limited to a huge amount of emails and text messages. I'm dreading what this might mean for us though and seeing the potential of a rejection and being separated for huge periods of time, which would be awful. We'll get married regardless, but I feel like no matter what application we put together, it will be rejected simply on the grounds of the short duration of the relationship and the fact we don't do conventional 'couple' things like 'meet the parents' and 'honeymoons' and 'pictures together.' If anyone has any experience from being in a similar situation I would love to hear what your experience was like and/or how you navigated around these issues.
