Here is my timeline

Application recieved (CPC-M): OCT 8, 2008
First stage approval: DEC 8, 2008
Application sent to Local Embassy (London): DEC 8, 2008
In Process on E-CAS: JAN 8, 2009
Interview: MARCH 26, 2009
Approved and Passport Request: WAITING
Passport Received: WAITING

My husband is going to redo his medicals on September 15, 2009. And no, they did not send us a request to redo them, but the man that conducted the interview (the guy supposedly responsible for our case) told us (when we called him up) that we can either wait until a request is sent, or we can redo them now. He says that if you want to save time instead of waiting a month or two after the background checks clear, then redo them now. So my husband is redoing them tomorrow so as to "save time."

I'm no longer just SadGirl . . . I'm DEEPLY DEEPLY DEPRESSED Girl

:(

WHEN IS THIS GOING TO FINISH??? This is so stressful on us.

This background check process is RIDICULOUS!!!

I first started the application in detroit, because I was living there, I had to transfered to damscus because I was on the end of my legual status in the US, SO instead of my application reaches Damscus in August 2008...it arrived Jan 2009...because simply someone forget FOR 6 MONTH to send my file...so take easy, at least your file was transfered and you got "in process" on ecas within days...enjoy it..:))

SadGirl:( ...you are saying that you were able to talk to the OFFICER that did the interview for your husband, and HE told you about the medical exam..??? Waouuuu, I haven't heard about such things before.
Another question, from where is your husband originaly so that his background check is taking all that time..?

Hi Rorita!

Yes, I have spoken a few times to the man that done my husband's interview over the phone and by email. But I've gotten nowhere so far. :(

My husband is originally from Iraq and still has his Iraqi passport. He's lived in Iraq for his entire life. When he was doing his masters degree in Iraq, he went and studied in Russia for six months and went back to Iraq to finish his masters. When he left Iraq he went to Syria for less than a year and then from Syria he went to Sweden. He's been living in Sweden for three years now and is a permanent resident there. My husband is clean, there is nothing in his background.

When I spoke to the man who conducted the interview he told me that he approved the application for a visa and sent it back to London for a routine background check. In June when I got in contact with him, he told me that the application is with a securtiy officer ready for a decision to be made. A month later, when we heard no news, I got in contact with him and asked him what's happening and that you told me that the application was up for a decision. He told me that further background checks were deemed necessary. From July until today we've been waiting. On September 8 I called him up to ask about the status, he tells me that they're still waiting for the results of the background checks. I asked him about my husbands medicals, I told him that he done them a year ago (September 10, 2008) he told me that they're going to expire and he will have to redo them. I asked him when is the best time, he said he can redo them now and in a month or two the medicals will clear and by that time hopefully the background checks will clear too, but no guarentees. My husband is going to redo his medicals tomorrow (September 15). I'm just praying that everything will finish by November 15 (in two months).

If there are any further suggestions or advise on what I can do to help move my case forward I would greatly appreciate the advise.
