Can't believe I'm asking this...

Good news/bad news.

Today my Language and Physical presence were completed. Currently outstanding background check only. They requested prints which were sent from RCMP to IRCC on Jan 3rd.

This means I'd expect them to have my prints in the next week.

Let's say then background and oath are approved sometime in the next 2 weeks..


We have a non-refundable vacation booked for Feb 3-10th.

What on earth do I do if we get an oath ceremony just before or during vacation? Is personal travel a valid reason to request a new ceremony? We cannot afford to reschedule the vacation, and time off won't be approved by work another time.

I think you'll be fine.
You'd need background to complete, oath to be scheduled, and oath to happen within 3 weeks. That's quite unlikely.

I understand your position, I had LPP complete in early Dec so the only thing pending was Oath.
I had international travel during the December holidays, so was afraid it would be an issue... none, still haven't heard about Oath!

So, enjoy your vacation! hopefully it will be soon after you return.

Stupidly, this is reassuring. I've seen people go from everything complete to decision made in 2 days, then oath 2 weeks later.

We need 3.5 more weeks from today.

I hope you get yours soon!!

But what happens if they schedule is for a ceremony mid vacation - is that enough reason to request a reschedule?? How quickly do they even respond to web forms for rescheduling? Ooof.

I wouldn't tell them why you are out of the country, unless explicitly asked.
In the super rare event that it happens: Say you'll be out of the country on those dates and your date of return, and that you are asking for reschedule on a date after your return.

No change to my tracker as well. Did you send the SRE response you received from the fingerprint office to IRCC?

Tracker updated today, and BG is complete now. AOR Sep 13th, test completed, BG completed, awaiting physical and prohibitions, oath

Did anyone try to change from a virtual to an in-person oath ceremony? If so, how long did it take to schedule the in-person ceremony after requesting the change? Thanks.

I got an update yesterday... language and physical presence completed, but prohibitions are still in progress.
I looked at my spouse's tracker, no update since November 26, 2024 and it's a family application.
I honestly will stop checking the tracker. It will happen when it happens. I have been trying to find some logic in this process, but there's none. Just need to wait, that's all I can do.
