so many guidance / counseling / upskilling agencies who fight to "take over" our files so that they become the agency mapped to our names, and hence receive funding from IRCC for guiding us!! many years ago i approached one such agency for job hunting and in one meeting itself it was clear they will not be able to help. yet they kept pushing the form for me to sign so they "take over" my file!! money talks.....

200% agree. Same thing happened with me as well. Unfortunately, if you're a highly skilled worker, these "agencies" cannot help in any way. As @2017CanadaHo! points out, all they do is try to look professional doing nothing.

I found a job through my own search, and almost 1.5 years later, with zero follow up, they wanted me to send my salary slips to them so that they can "formally close my file saying they have helped another Canadian immigrant" as they put it. The fact was, I found that job on my own, with no help from them, and in a field totally unrelated to my core expertise but at least something to pay the bills in the meantime. They tried to entice me with a $25 Starbucks gift card. I never responded to their calls/ voicemails/ emails.

WOWWWWWWWW!!!!! EXACTLY THE SAME HAPPENED WITH ME. job found with my own efforts, and the last agency i was engaged with, said we'll close the file saying we placed the newcomer. NO YOU DID NOT!!!!!

During November, we see a lot of update in April files, and some in August. Strangely NO file in June/July has been touched.

You should receive an email from the IRCC with attachment (Acknowledge of Receipt) AOR, this letter comes with your application number, you need the application number to create an account with the tracker system or ECAS (as long you are paper applicant)

Create account if doesn't have PR tracker account on this (https://prt-srp.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/), otherwise reset pwd? Does it holds true as per instructions or just hit and trial either would work?

Where do you need to go to give fingerprints? Does that need appointment booking too? In general, just curious to know the process for fingerprinting.

It doesn't need an appointment to give it, Local police or an accredited private fingerprint agency. Myself I would go for private agency as I can't during the week and would have to do it over the weekend.
