200% agree. Same thing happened with me as well. Unfortunately, if you're a highly skilled worker, these "agencies" cannot help in any way. As @2017CanadaHo! points out, all they do is try to look professional doing nothing.so many guidance / counseling / upskilling agencies who fight to "take over" our files so that they become the agency mapped to our names, and hence receive funding from IRCC for guiding us!! many years ago i approached one such agency for job hunting and in one meeting itself it was clear they will not be able to help. yet they kept pushing the form for me to sign so they "take over" my file!! money talks.....
I found a job through my own search, and almost 1.5 years later, with zero follow up, they wanted me to send my salary slips to them so that they can "formally close my file saying they have helped another Canadian immigrant" as they put it. The fact was, I found that job on my own, with no help from them, and in a field totally unrelated to my core expertise but at least something to pay the bills in the meantime. They tried to entice me with a $25 Starbucks gift card. I never responded to their calls/ voicemails/ emails.
