Hi all - does anyone know how long to wait after receiving the citizenship certificate to apply for a passport? I will get my citizenship certificate on the same day as my in-person oath ceremony. On the 'notice to appear' it says to wait two days after receiving the certificate before applying for a passport. So if I receive the certificate on a Tuesday, I shouldn't apply before Friday, according to the notice. I'm wondering if I can apply Thursday? Thank you.

You can go for the passport as soon as you get your certificate. These days walkins in the passport office are super easy and less time consuming.

I am not sure when it started. I have updated my timeline in the signature.

Is Fingerprint request normal? Looks like this is a special case.

For me, the background verification got completed first and then Language Skills/Physical Presence/Prohibitions completed next. I had less than a month's time for the Oath ceremony.

Your timeline is too short compared to mine. I am almost 2 years now.

I did reschedule my Citizenship test as I was traveling. But that shouldn't take this long.

Unusual to receive FP late in the process, but your name could have matched someone with a record and they want to make sure it's not you. Once your FP is done, your background and prohibitions should clear quickly. look for an RCMP accredited agency or your local police may help.

I have done at local Commissionaires office in May 2022. in my case I went to Bedford NS office. They were fast and great.

Finally got everything LPP Background completed today! Citizenship ceremony not started. I’m travelling end of June though so I am wondering if anyone has tried expediting the oath process with proof of travel.

You can definitely try. Some people have been successful. I would give it a couple of weeks as they are busy with rescheduling right now.
