I received Pre-Arrival Services letter this morning, on behalf of my husband (PR). I wasn't expecting to hear from CIC for a while, so I am pleasantly surprised. However, I am not going to get my hopes up yet. From what I have read on the forum, this means that PR eligibility was passed and that next step is BGC, which could take anywhere from a few days to several months. Pre-Arrival Services does not guarantee a quick DM/PPR, but I am very curious to see how things develop from now on. A lot of applicants received a PPR very shortly after. Some waited for a few more months...
If anyone has experience with this, can you please share it here? Thanks. :)

I haven’t heard of this. Is this letter issued in all cases? Sounds positive for you - good luck!

I could be wrong, but I think it is a fairly new part of the application process, since I don't remember seeing this prior to 2017 posts. CIC sends this letter once PR eligibility is completed. (some applicants claim they did not receive it prior to COPR, they got it after) Only BGC is left before finalizing applications and the next step is PPR. The thing with this is.... nobody knows how long BGC could take, so I am not jumping from joy yet, but am hopeful that the completion date is near. Let's see what happens. In this particular letter, they inform you that you can now receive free pre-arrival services funded by the Government of Canada. (help with job search, education or anything related to settling in Canada) I don't think you can log in or register for the services until COPR is received though. Although, it is not mandatory, it is optional, but I believe useful for a lot of newcomers.

Thanks for the kind wishes! :) How is your process going so far? Any news?

Hi, thanks for the information. That's interesting.

Right now, we've just passed the medical stage - date sent February 27, date read March 10 (not sure why the long lag time there, but that's what it notes on the website). The application is with the local VO. I had thought we just needed to wait for the background check and then PPR, but maybe this letter needs to come first?

I'm encouraged at how things have been progressing lately and noting that as a (very general) trend it seems that there usually isn't too long a period between medicals and PPR. We're really hoping that's the case but as you say, who knows. Here's to good PPR news for us both sooner than later!

Hi @gordiewow ,
This letter isn't a significant part of the process. In my opinion, they should not be confusing people by sending it before they receive their PPR/COPR. Most applicants get their PPR very quickly after Pre-arrival, but then there is a smaller number of those who still wait a few months, so it gives them false hope. I am trying not to rely on it too much, but will keep checking my account to see if any updates.

Glad you are finally in the 2nd stage of processing and yes, hopefully good news soon! Best of luck! :)

Congrats! Apologies if I missed an earlier mention, but can I ask which VO you were dealing with?

Ah, yes, see it in your signature. Thought that might have been for initial processing. I've heard that Mississauga is quite fast compared to international VOs -- but more than three months waiting for the PPR does not seem fast.
