Hello CaroM8, is there a Mexico thread? What are the actual Mexico VO timelines looking like?

There is! The timelines are terrible lol .. Most people don't get AOR2 until 2 or 3 months after SA!

Congratulations to the first September applicant with a decision on our spreadsheet, mcharade! wonderful wonderful!

Other Ottawa VO apps, are we all in background check yet? i think we might all get a Christmas present from Ottawa.

Well, I'm Ottawa and it hasn't started for me yet. I submitted about a week after you so... here is to hoping next week that process starts for us.

Nope mine still says the same thing since Oct 28th. It is actually starting to make me cranky to put it politely.
Eligibility and medical still in progress. Still doesn't say that I have been approved anywhere except a piece of paper I received in the mail and applicant hasn't received anything. Just read an article on the lack of communication with the refugees/sponsors Canada took in and how immigration lacks updating the computer system. They need to figure out how to use and update the computer system which in turn will lessen the amount of phone calls. These are our family members and it's hard enough waiting, but without the system updates it's frustrating as hell. I know after OAR there is a wait and I get that, but when they don't even update to say that Sponsor is approved or they received the medical or that they sent you communication, you start to lose hope in the system. I hardly even check anymore as it just makes me sad. End of rant! Sorry :-[ Maybe now I can phone CIC without sounding cranky ;)

Huge congrats to everyone that is on the last of their journey! So happy for y'all and the rest of us will hopefully be shortly behind. Had our hopes for April!

Mine hasn't been started either.

I hear your frustration Ottawa folks. From looking at the august apps, there seems to be a +/- weeks up to a month for individual applications to make it to background check. It seems that similar timelines only provide a range to know when we might hear updates on our files. I think I'm feeling positive because I very much believed the 14 month waiting period listed on the website when I applied. I believe that anyone with a straight forward application to Ottawa with dates around my timeline will go into background check within the next couple of weeks. And then it's on to the last leg!

Remember our sanity and happiness are more important during this waiting game than trying to fight the bureaucratic machine unless we have a concrete reason to fight, like a glitch in our processing. The lack of communication is frustrating though, and I am thankful we have this forum to help each other stand the wait and decipher the signs.

Ottawa here, I've also yet to hear anything for a good while. I'm already in country on a student visa though so I consider myself lucky. Hang in there gang! ;)

Still no background check for me :( really hoping this week!!!

My other visa is moving along quite nicely though, so it looks like I'll be able to stay in Canada and continue working afterall even if this one doesn't come through immediately!! woohoo!!

Yesterday, I received an email confirming my approval and stating that my COPR has been sent. That means it took 4 days from approval for correspondence to be sent out and for the COPR to be printed.

Though that's a bit slow, I have received timely correspondence from CIC during this whole process. It's actually shocking to see so many people on this forum who aren't even getting their SAs reliably. It seems that this all comes down to the individual officer and isn't well mandated by CIC itself.

I hope everyone will be seeing some progress soon. Good luck!

That's amazing news, congrats!!!!

Yeah, it's super frustrating knowing I have an extremely straightforward case and seeing people getting approved or even background check started before me, all because I simply have a lazy officer.
