Hi question,

My wife who is American received her COPR and landed on April 7, 2016. However, she went back to Chicago 3 days later to go bac to work. The reason she came landed and did not stay was because we found that she is pregnant and wanted to get a head start on our health card and social insurance. Anyways, I have not received her PR card yet and I plan to fly to Chicago and drive back with her along with some of her belongings(furniture, etc).

Now I have been reading different posts regarding traveling back, some people say we need PRTD and some say a US passport is fine can someone clarify this for me?

Thank You!

Hey ja7toronto,

Did your wife went to apply for her health coverage? If you are in Ontario she can do it after she gets landed, but will get it 3 months later after the day she gets landed. However, bare in mind there is a requirement from OHIP that for the first 6 months since she gets landed, she cannot leave from ontario for more than 30 days, otherwise there is a chance to loose her OHIP.
The only thing your wife needs to get back in the country is her passport with her stamped COPR. You just tell them that you still haven't received the PR. I have no idea what PRTD is, but just her passport and COPR I think she will be ok :) and probably that declaration form what she is bringing back with her.

Good luck :)

Well in my case I presented my passport to VFSglobal India personally and yes you have to pay, but the fee must be very less(may be depends on where they are sending it)..

Ithink PRTD. Is a travel document which is issued for a one time entry if u havent recieved the card. But thats for countries that need visas

I'm presuming you mean "urgently" (not agently). We paid a small courier fee - sounds normal to me. 8)
