You can do the medical even before they asked you too, but there is a chance they will not ask you a new one, they might extend the one you alreday gave them. It all depends from your VO. From which country are you? You can order your GM notes and see from there, maybe they have already approved your medical exam. If they did they probably extended it and you don't need to take another one. When did you do your medical exam?

Usually for a few months or a year, depends on the VO. The idea is that , u should have a valid medical when landing in Canada. And usually, u have to land before ur medicals expire..

I don't really know about that. Maybe if you look into the forum there are more people that order their notes and might know more than me. I think there discussion about that. But beside the medical examination, they also they do the criminality examination, relationship etc. If your order the notes you will probably know what has been approved and what hasn't been looked at yet.

Which paper applications can I link to my online account?

Starting April 9, 2016, you can get more detailed status and your mail online for some applications. You will need to have an account. You can link the following paper applications to your online account:
•Visitor visa
•Work permit
•Study permit
•Visitor record

Statuses for applications submitted on paper under the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Federal Skilled trades program can already be checked online through your online account.

Hello Everyone!

I am sponsoring my husband from Iraq to Canada. My Case has been In Process since November 2015. My case was originally sent to Jordan and just recently, I found out it was transferred to Romania. The processing time for Jordan is 22 months meanwhile, the processing time for Bucharest Romania is 13 months. Which processing time should I go by. I am so confused. Any reply would be helpful. Thanks so much.

Here is my query in detail. I'd appreciate your advice.

My husband is Canadian and he is sponsoring me from outside Canada. We have been married and living in Egypt for 10 years and we have kids, who hold Canadian passports like their dad.

We applied in Sept 2015, and he got the email from Mississauga in Nov. saying he is eligible to sponsor. Then in April I received an email from the visa office saying that we have to submit proof of his intention to resettle in Canada (job offer, housing purchase or rental or proof that he severed his ties to Egypt). We sent them a job offer he received from Canada.

Then a few weeks later they emailed me again asking if my husband is now working in Egypt, given that if he is working we have to provide an employment letter (letter from his employer). We replied saying that he's currently not working in Egypt (which is the case) and we re-sent the job offer + his CV (a good CV with good employment history in Egypt and Canada)

Does anyone here have similar experiences?

Was that sufficient from us? Shall I send them something else, e.g my CV (I had sent my CV in the original application to Mississauga back in 2015, shall I send it again?) I am not Canadian but I have native-level knowledge of English and I have held prestigious jobs in Egypt over the years.

Shall we also send them an email of airplane tickets documenting my husband's latest visit to Canada, which he made in the summer right before we filed our application? He made that visit specifically to search for jobs, opportunities etc. and to find out about good schools for our kids.

I am confused why they sent us this last email? Do they want to make sure he has cut his ties to Egypt (and therefore being unemployed in Egypt would be an asset and what they want to hear)? Or do they want him to be working in Egypt to make sure he has an income, in which case it would be bad that he's not working?

Another point to bear in mind, in the cover letter we have originally sent, we said we had a preliminary plan to move to a certain city in Canada, but the job offer my husband received came from another city. Is it a problem? We are very genuine. It's just that our initial plan was for one city then we changed plans depending on our search and the opportunities we later found after making the initial plans.

What do you expect for us in general?

So, you and your husband have been living in Egypt for the past decade and the only evidence of even potentially living in Canada is a job offer, (which you aren't going to take because you prefer a different city) and you expect Canada to give you citizenship why?

We can't tell you, but you should check your status on the CIC website. Certainly easier than ordering the notes...
