Once you get the passport back yes you can either go to a local office or cross the borders. I crossed the borders, is way faster. It seems that at the offices it takes longer, you need to book an appointment and if you are in Toronto, it seems that there is a waiting time, but you can call and see when they have an opening for your wife. At the borders it was super fast, as also the borders were empty when I went two months ago. The 'hardest' part is crossing the borders to the USA. We just told them that we wanted to turn back to Canada to get me landed. They took us out of the car & took our passports and told us to wait in the building. 5 minutes later an officer called us and asked us y we are here. We told him again that we want to cross the borders. He accompanied us back to our car, and make sure we turned left to go back to Canada. They will give your wife a paper, saying she is landing.. Once you get back into Canada they are super smiley and welcoming, you will park your car and just go to the stone building, and an officer will just take yours wife passport, and COPR. They will make her read it and sign it and that's all. Maybe they will tell her congrats and that she has every right as the Canadians except voting and going to the military!! Of course you can be there with her don't expect anything fancy. The officer that stamped my COPR was talking like a robot, I guess she did that millions of times but she did tell me congrats
Oh well for us it was exciting coz it was over Good luck and happy landing
This is really very insightful. Thanks a ton! Are you from Toronto GTA Area?
