How did you get the renewal? Is it through LMIA?

Hi, I am on a temporary work permit and as it was expiring on 5th Dec the employer had filed for extension.

Of course you can renew your work permit with a LMIA. It's the usual and most common way of renewing a work permit. How did you come to Canada? With a LMO? Then it's exactly the same thing.

For those whose AOR should haven been issued but are afraid that there's a problem with their email address or didn't provide an email address and Canada Post may have lost the letter, you can try login in here https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do?app=ecas with the UCI number. Although it takes a couple of days to update (it says that it's usually updated on Tuesdays). For example mine isn't yet there but I've received the AOR already.

Hi - my current closed WP is expiring by Jan end. I am an Oct applicant and my AOR is expected not before my WP expires because of which i am now forced to apply for Closed WP extension.

My question is that once i get my Closed WP, say for 1 year duration and then after receiving my AOR, am i eligible to apply for a BOWP ? I heard from someone that once you receive a valid Closed WP, i might not be eligible to apply for an BOWP but not sure.

Can someone help me clarify it

Hi,
it's true you can't apply for the BOWP with the new closed WP. You can only apply if your current WP is valid less than 4 months which in your case will not be true.

That said, I have heard that you can request CIC to process your AOR earlier so that you can continue to apply for a BOWP and stay in Canada. Have seen couple of cases wherein they have processed AOR's of such candidates sooner than others just to keep you in Canada.

Hi Joyous, it was my employer who renewed it ... I did not had to to anything except filling up forms ...

So as per threads its clear I can apply open work permit as I get AOR.

Seems Sept 2014 applicants (incl me) have been gifted with immense patience ...
