Hi!

Just wondering where does it states that we need to inform CIC, if we leave Canada on a short trip?

I already mentioned my reason of informing them. I don't know if it says somewhere, but to be on the safe side, I will inform them. I had a few trips in Nov 2009 - June 2011. I applied for my entries into canada and luckily all were recorded. ( I applied for that after i sent my application for citizenship Sept 13th, and was worried after checking it here that they do miss entries sometimes).
you have to be extra careful when you are dealing with CIC. They need an excuse to put you into trouble. Give them one and you are stuck forever....

I agree but i think they are more concerned for the relevant 4 years, also i did check CIC website in detail and all it says is that you have to inform them for any address update.

It is always good to be on the safe side but i was just wondering if it is mandatory to inform CIC if you are leaving.

Bro! this is not mandatory if you are going for a short trip as your permanent/ mailing address would still be in Canada.
If i am RQ"d, and I am outside canada, I need to have a valid reason to show why i did not submit my RQ in time.
They should be more concerned with the last 4 years period BUT they are NOT....This is the delaying tactics used by CIC. I don't blame them in full. The previous applicants are also responsible in part by doing frauds.....
