Gaurav,
Is open work permit comes with validity ( expiry dates) ? If yes , What will be minimum duration we can expect once we apply. I have no plans to apply, since my Closed WP is valid until 2016

Shaja, Sorry i forgot to add link in my earlier post.

Sreenath, I am not sure about it but i think they will match duration of open work permit with our existing closed work permit. In short, one can convert our closed work permit into open once we receive PER. In my point of view, its better to do that as it will secure us from laid off & can't work due to permit status kind of situation. Anyways no one can predict how much time it will take in processing our FSW application so better to be secured with open work permit so in worst case we have other means to support. One has to shell out $125 more though.

that's the valid point, Do I get employer's concern for converting my visa to Open WP , or this is an additional process and follow the process as we applied for FSWP

I don't think so. We don't need to get Visa's but just need to change work permit. Basically you can apply it online. You can go to CIC website & try to get new work permit for change in condition. It will ask us to create log in specific to our UCI number & generate case specific questionnaire. It has one of the question which says that if applicant has passed eligibility stage in FSW application, they can apply for open work permit. Afterwards, it will generate checklist based on questionnaire & one has to upload documents it is asking for. When i did it for myself, it didn't ask for anything from existing employer but you can check it with your UCI number. I haven't applied for it though as i am still waiting for ownership change to complete in my organization. - Gaurav

people with CPP-O also got no reason to rejoice because Ottawa will be handling most of the stuff for the closed visa offices :(

Rhen,

If you don't mind, may I ask you when Manila sent CoPR and your passport with visa?
I'd like to know whether it was before July 29th or not...
Thanks,

Hi Gaurav,
Thank you so much. I consulted an immigration lawyer and he told me I still do not qualify under the open work permit and employer should apply for LMO instead. This is really frustrating!
