3> Or simply I would rather update the address to one of my friend's place staying in Canada? Would it help and in that case how to perform medical and other down the line processing steps?

2. Your location now has no bearing on the speed of your application

3. You should put down the address of where you are residing, not where someone else is living.

Hello all, an update for you.

Today I received the RPRF and BioData form to send back for my visa. I have a few questions.

I have been in the UK for the whole time whilst my application has been processing. Monday this week I was offered an amazing job here, Wednesday I receive my PR! Perfect timing.

My question is, how long can I delay until I activate PR after it is issued, the email I received says I should do it immediately but I thought it was 1 year. Anyone have any info on this?

This is what the email said:
Final Note

The issuance of your visa(s) cannot be delayed so it is important for you to submit your documents and pay the RPRF as soon as possible. An expiration date (dd/mm/yy) will be indicated on your visa and/or on your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (CoPR – IMM 5688), and you must obtain permanent residence on or before that date. The visas and CoPR cannot be extended. If you are not prepared to live permanently in Canada immediately after your permanent residence is granted, please consult the CIC website regarding your obligations to retain your status in Canada.

Jennn. First of all big congrats for you. Really glad you got it. Infact, i started to get concerned what happen to jenn's application. They first sent you MR ages ago and then kept quiet.

Anyways, this is a great news.

Now about your main question. You are mixing two different things. Right now, they are only asking for your passport. They will stamp the visa on your passport.

The day they stamp that visa on your passport and issue the Confirmation of PR, you will have 1 year from that day to land in Canada. Right?

So right now you may send your passport to them. If you want to buy sometime, give it a pause and send your passport few days later. First check the letter again. See how much time they give you to send your passports, usually its 60 days. If that is the case, then send your passport after 45 days. You bought sometime

Let's say if they stamp it on October 25th 2013, you will have upto October 25th 2014 to complete your landing in Canada.

Once your passport reaches to Ottawa, after a week or so, they will issue COPR and stamp it with the Landing Visa - which is only SINGLE ENTRY and valid usually for a year.

So go ahead, take the job you just got in UK and land in Canada when you have already networked for a job and ready to hit the Canadian ground running.

Till today I thought it was 1 yr from the date of copr. But you have a valid point. They want the person to enter Canada while their medical results are valid.

Hi Dilli,

I believe you did advance medicals right? Does your ECAS status change after you do your advance medical? I have also done mine but my ECAS status still say Application received. Also do we have to mail CIC and inform them about it? I mailed them but I did not hear back from them.

Hi Canim - The status continues be Application received till they pick your application. Mine status was Received till August 21 2013. Follow up with CIC and try to get the confirmation for Medicals received.
