Dear gg08,

Please update my status in the table.

NOC:2173
Status: Application Received
I renewed My Passport(which was going to expire in July 14th2013) and sent the new Passport number to CIC on June 24th and got a reply from CIC on 27th( Which gave me a sign that the CIC is still alive and my application is still active )

:-[ Waiting for MR for last 5 weeks. Even changed the Email tone in by phone to a loud ringtone. Checking the Spam, trash, inbox whenever i take the phone like crazy

Regards
Sarath

Are the PPR's getting delayed due to the strike? Is it safe to go ahead and pay the RPRF fees upfront once medicals are done?

Not even MRs anymore!! Not sure if they ran of coffee at CPP-O or what!!!

I would have been satisfied even if I had received my GCMS notes (i ordered them on 3rd June but no sign of it yet!)!!

Its driving me nuts ???

If you check out the PAFSO union facebook page (the group representing the members doing the strike),
this is their tactic, to delay all the work so that they can increase pressure on government and bring them to negotiating table.

Though, i'm still not 100% if CPP-ottawa and CiC in general is among the ones in the strike.

Hi guys,

Just received my GCMS notes. After almost 10 months of radio silence from CIC, this comes as a huge relief:

Eligibility: in progress, recommend passed
Criminality: in progress
Security: not started
Medical: not started

A quick question: do you think it's worth it for me to do advance medicals, or should I wait until CIC requests it? Given that this whole ordeal is taking forever, I'm just wondering if advance medicals might speed things up a little bit...

Hi Dilli,

Eiligibility was first assessed on May 14.

Notes say the following:

"FOSS/GCMS check: No adverse info. Temporary resident status authorized during CEC qualifying period. Civil status: Never married, no spouse/CLS or children declared Work Experience: Assessed under TFW stream, CEC qualifying period is: 19SEP2009 to 19SEP2012. 13SEP2012 TO 14SEP2012, NOC 4162 DECLARED, F/T ECONOMIST for (company name). Letter confirms dates of employment and describes the duties which appear to conform to NOC. T4 and NOA provided, with reported earnings consistent with stated occupation. Supporting docs appear sufficient to demonstrate required experience in this NOC code. Language: IELTS submitted, meets benchmarks for work experience at this skill level. Education: Canadian credential granted, Master of Arts Economics, (name of university). Transcripts show that this degree was obtained through one-year of studies, therefore the PA does not qualify under Student stream. Criminality: PA RCMP Screening - NRT Doc received for PA: Police clearance from (country) No additional docs required at this time."

Hi pari_p,

The problem isn't that they're lazy. The problem is the strike. CIC has moved resources from processing PRs to processing visas, in order to make sure that essential services are not disrupted. As a consequence, the processing of PR applications has slowed down considerably. Read this article here: http://www.newswire.ca/en/story/1187123/media-advisory-canada-s-foreign-service-officers-announce-additional-pickets-in-ottawa-and-escalated-service-withdrawals

PAFSO officials estimate that job action by immigration officers has resulted in major delays to application processing and a significant drop in the number of visas being issued. These impacts will be felt directly by Canada's tourism industry, educational institutions, and businesses relying on temporary foreign workers. The Department of Citizenship & Immigration's decision to shift non-striking resources toward visa processing will also result in significant processing delays to applications for permanent residency.
