On that note, anyone know whether it's necessary/advisable to contact the VO (in my family's case, Ottawa) to confirm that they've received our CSQ? I haven't seen anyone say that ECAS will ever be updated to show that the CSQ was received, but it seems silly to wait for months and months before contacting them if for some reason the CSQ was never received. Wouldn't it be sensible to send a polite note such as the following: "About a month ago I received my CSQ from Quebec, but I haven't seen any update in ECAS that would confirm that CIC has received it. Could you please confirm that you have received the CSQ?"

I have emailed my VO once and they got back to me within a day with a response so I don't see any harm in it myself....i wouldn't badger them with alot of emails or yes I would think they wouldn't like that very much. lol

Hey everyone! We filed our app in the last week of September* and still haven't gotten our first stage yet. Getting a little worried. Any ideas? :(

* we actually filed it the first time in late August, but it got sent back a month later.

Whoops, I should add that our VO is Mississauga.

I hope you can get some news today if you call!

Thanks for the help everyone!

I just called CIC, and the agent told me we've been approved for our first stage since a month ago. :D The only problem was my email was misspelled, haha.

Phew, what a relief.

My experience - I sent a query to ND VO. I made it as formal and as simple as I can. I mentioned the file no and UCI properly. And I explained why I had to sent the query (because i thought it is recommended not to sent unless it is really necessary). And I got very quick and positive response. So my take - go ahead if you have a valid question.

I am in Canada and already hold a PR.
We received the request for passport from ND VO for my wife's sponsorship application on Dec 6, 2012. My wife is currently in India.
Does anyone know how much time do they roughly take to stamp the visa and send the passport back?
I will be visiting india starting Jan. We have our tickets for travelling back to Canada (end of Jan; my wife has a visitor visa for Canada currently so planning to travel on that), so I am wondering if there will be enough time for us to receive the passport with the visa affixed before we fly.
Does anyone know if there is an expedited service that the ND VO offers?

If you filed in September, it is very unlikely you will receive the passport with the visa before you return to Canada. New Delhi requests passports early (generally) to do background checks and other stuff. Your application will likely not even start processing by January.

It may help you to look at the New Delhi thread or spreadsheet for an idea of the processing times.

It is a general rule for ND VO these days to ask for early passport. I am also a Sept applicant and i was asked for Passport last month.
I am not expecting any movement for at least another 2-3 months.
It would be a good idea for you to add your timeline in the Sept 2012 datasheet. I believe there are around 5-6 applicants from ND and most of them have received PPR..

Thanks for your suggestions. That helps. Yes I did make an attempt to update the excel sheet, but unfortunately it is locked and is "view only"..I can see it says at the top to drop an email to Ryathe...I checked Ryathe's profile but the email appeared to be hidden....So I would be happy to add to the excel sheet if I am provided permissions going forward..
