Hello Sept Gang!

Does anyone have an idea of what happens in the Visa Offices during the holidays? are they completely closed between Xmas and New years? Do they go by the "Canadian" Holiday calendar or do they adapt to each countries holidays...

Has anyone read anything about the possible delays during the holidays?

Anyway, I hope they keep on working, even if only a couple of days a week...

I did make a call and our application must have been opened this morning. They made a note in our file and said that I should have a decision in the next few days. We're filing through Buffalo, the application was mailed on the 23rd and received on the 25th.

That's what I assumed. They are a Canadian VO so they should get Canadian holidays off, but it would be very weird to not give them the holidays off of the country they are in.

I'm sure for Berlin this means a generous vacation of 2 weeks or so.
I wonder where I can apply for such jobs ;D

Hello Sep Team,
I called the CIC call center today to get an error fixed in the zip code of my address in ecas. I spoke to them regarding the change and since I was on the line I inquired about the timeline and how our sponsorship files are sent to their respective VO's. I was very surprised when they told me that each week designated dignitaries for each VO (from the immigration office) collect the respective VO files and travel to that country and submit the files by hand. They said these files are highly confidential and they cannot take of risk of losing them. The call center agent told me that he came to know about this procedure only recently and even he was surprised. He said he was under the impression that these files were sent via some secure mail. And regarding the timeline, he said it usually ranges from 10 to 15 days.
Well, it was a surprise to me and thought I would share it with you guys.
Good luck to all those waiting for their sponsorship approvals.
Ajay

Interesting. I figured they might have their own courier. This is very cool. I didn't dare to ask because I was a bit worried I might be overstepping boundaries, but good thing you did! You apparently asked the right person too!

That's what even I thought. I even asked the agent if they wait until they get a handful of applications before they take a trip to the VO's. He said they always have a lot of files ready to be sent to the VO's and they usually don't have to wait for collecting applications.

Now that I think about it, I guess I was lucky to have run in to an agent who was either very patient or in a very good mood.

You probably wouldn't have asked if he was grumpy and snappy. :D
Way to go!

actually its a good thing that they do it this way because it is even more safe for delivery to that certain VO, as with couriers, they might be safe but things do happen, plus doing it this way also means it is given to the right department in the VO and not misplaced

Pinklady,

Took a look at the spreadsheet, those processing times are quick. Glad to hear it!

Victorfoxtrot,

I'm based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. There's only 2 options in this city. I will try calling the other place though and see if their quote is any cheaper.

Tomorrow my fiancé arrives, 2 weeks until the wedding! ♥
