Thank you Kind Sir,

I contacted the respective department for details. Not just Grad admissions. Calling directly to the department helps. Try that or just email them directly.

University of Alberta is now out of the picture. I'm going to the University of Calgary since they're giving me $20,000 yearly stipend. It's too hard getting through AILES, UAlberta (the department handling masters on agricultural sciences) as they require a research proposal right away at application for admission.

WoW 20, 000 $ stipend !!!! Thats great ...
Is it the Msc or M eng program ?

Good Luck.

@ 458 Bridge: MSc (Research) but I might transfer to the PhD program in 16 months if I am able to pass the candidacy exam. A very very big help for my finances. Athough the set-up is that I'll receive it in a monthly basis (like a salary) but tax-free.

@ Arthur123: "Move" meaning stay permanently? Usually, you will get visa denial if you cannot prove that your going back to your country after studying so I advice you not to place any notes saying you are staying in Canada after completing your studies. You must apply for Permanent Residency if your plan is to stay in Canada.

Is there any advantage of applying early?

You mean applying for admission, right? The answer is None. Just make sure you apply before the deadline. Usually they do the assessment of all the applicants' credentials after the deadline so that they can allocate the slots to the most deserving students. If you intend the apply for the Fall Term, I think you're already late as most universities have early deadlines for international students. You may opt for the Winter Term instead. :)

@docr
No I meant applying for visa? I have already filed my visa on 19th April.
Will I be given visa early? Lets say in June or early July?

@Can.ott: Yes, of course, there are advantages. One will be having extra time just in case you need to submit other documents, have a medical exam or interview. You can also book for cheaper airfare if you receive your visa early. Advantages is really more on having the EXTRA TIME. Depending on the average handling time of the visa office, you may get the decision by either June or July. I applied on the 18th of April in Manila Visa Office and hopefully I'll get approval by July.

www.cic.gc.ca. You can get almost all information regarding immigration to Canada in this website. You can also google the website of your nearest Canadian Visa Office to check out their specific requirements and procedures on student visa application.
