Hello ,

I was refused landing at the port of entry . This happened due to change in family composition . The officer seized the CPR and told me that the VO will contact me about further steps .

When I called back at the POE , they told me that VO is deciding whether to reopen the case or make me reapply . However I have not heard anything from the VO . I have written several emails about the status but no response . Does any body know how long VO takes to respond in such cases .

thank you for your time.

OP probably got married after receiving the PR visa and didn't inform the VO about this change before landing.

Changes in family composition must be reported to the Visa Office. That much is clear but do we have to inform VO in case we travel outside our home country while PR application is in process?

Landing was the wrong thing to do. Your visa was no longer valid.

You were obligated to notify CIC that your family situation had changed. You should have returned your visa instead of landing (your visa was no longer valid since it was issued to you when you were single and you are now married). Instead of landing, what you should have done was returned your visa to the VO, notified them that you had gotten married, and submitted all of the paperwork (forms, evidence) required to add your new spouse to your application. The VO would have then processed this additional paperwork and then issued a new visa to both you and your new spouse.

Since you landed instead and tried to use your visa which was no longer valid - it's not possible to say for certain what will happen. Hopefully the VO will allow you to add your spouse to your application and issue a new visa rather than making you start the application process again from scratch.

I would not sit around and wait for a reply from the VO. I would complete all of the paperwork required to add your spouse to the application and submit this information to the VO asap.

You should have either landed before and got married later, or not have landed at all but submitted additional forms for spouse/dependents to the VO to re-assess your application and add your spouse as well.

You should know that if you take your spouse along with you then the settlement fund amount increases also the landing fee and the initial application fee. That should have got the bells ringing in the first place.

Collate all the required additional documents and submit to your VO ASAP !

but how the Landing port officer comes to know that you got married after getting the VISa?

of-course you will not take your wife with you, since she doesn't have the VISA stamp on her passport.

but for males passport, apparently there is no change in surname or middle name.

as nishesh said, the easiest solution would had been was to get married after landing....that opportunity is now lost...better luck in 2nd application.

can bishu forget the old visa? and apply FSW-14 like a new applicant?

The border officer doesn't need to know when you got married, he only needs to see that the spouse doesn't have the proper documentation to be landing as a PR along with the applicant.

Just to clarify how the border officials knew that I am married is because I declared that I got married after landing . They just told me that they need to contact VO .

Bro,
just don't give up!

follow the advice seniors gave you, send your updated dox to VO with explanation letter and this way initiate the case
re-opening. God is there to help you. just pray to God, everything will be in your favour.
