Hi Guys,

I think you'll find my example helpful. I landed on June 28th. My PGWP expired March 17th, week before it expired, I applied for an extension without LMO, knowing it will get rejected, but it'll buy me a few weeks on implied status. Soon enough, I got the rejection, and I stopped working, and planned to apply for my restoration of status as a visitor within 90 days. That would have taken me to August 5th.

I got my PPR on June 22nd, and applied for my restoration of status as a visitor on June 26th ONLINE. I was told by CIC that it is ok, but i need to print out a confirmation that I applied, and also a copy of the receipt, incase I have to prove my legal status in the country. I did all that, and landed at the border with no problems. So don't worry, as long as you apply 90 days after your implied status expires, you are legally ok in Canada at the time of your landing.

Thanks Jes_ON
That's the good one.

Ask the call centre - if you withdraw the application before processing has begun, you may be able to get your money back.

May I please ask why your work permit extension was rejected? Was it an open work permit or a closed one?

My work permit extension was rejected. I am within the 90 day restoration period.I havent yet restored my status .I have received my passport from Detroit and want to complete landing procedure.
How do I go about?? Can I leave Canada and cross the US border and come back to Canada as I have US visa ??? Or I can even go to India and come back and complete landing procedure ??
Or do I have to restore my status in Canada as a visitor and only then am I allowed to leave and re-enter Canada (from US or India) and complete landing procedure ??

Hey hi guys. I have a situation here. My application for my workpermit extension got refused on Dec 10,2015, and at the same time I am waiting on my Passport request which may take some more time. Now i am thinking about applying for visitor visa to restore my status in Canada. Based on this, i have couple of questions:
1. Do you think so that refusal to my work permit application can affect my Passport req?
2. As i only have 90 days to restore my status which is going to expire on 10 march 2016, what is the processing time going on for Visitor visa? Should i have to apply with in a certain time before march 10, 2016?
3. When should i expect my passport req? I was done with my medicals on 14 sept 2015.
Can you please help me, and answer these questions.
