We had done our landing formalities a year ago and returned to Dubai after spending 10 days in Canada. Our PR& SIN cards were send along to us thru our cousins who came on a vacation to dubai.
Now last week we permanently moved to canada. The CBSA officer saw our passports and PR cards and asked why we were here. We told we have come here permanently. He just put all our Pr cards in a machine and got it punched in system. However he did not stamp a entry seal on our passports NOR ASKED US HOW MUCH MONEY WE WERE CARRYING. Next we collected our 8 luggage boxes and moved to a area where we showed the officer the card stamped by cbsa. He directed us out of the airport without checking our luggage. My question is whether we had to get the entry seal on our passports?

Regards,
Vidya

It's OK... they sometimes do [the immigr. stamp on the pps] while sometime don't [mostly].
Out of many entry/exits I've only 'two'.

Hi Vidya, don't worry if they did not stamp on your passport.
For a visitor, or new comer the immigration officer (BSA) will stamp on his/her passport.
For a PR or for a Canadian citizen, scanning of the PR card or passport will feed respective data to their system.

At the Montreal international air port there are Automated border control kiosks

very simple procedure:

1.Fill out in advance the declaration card distributed on the plane. Every member of the family over tage of16 must sign the declaration card.Detach the dotted portion of your declaration card.

2.At the Automated Border Clearance kiosk, follow the instructions that appear on the screen. Scan the
required documents. Take the receipt printed by the kiosk.Don't forget your passport or permanent resident card.

3.Proceed to the designated Border Services officer for verification of your documents. Open your passport to the page with your photo. Present the kiosk receipt to the officer. Await instructions from
the officer prior to heading for the baggage claims area

passports are not stamped.
