Second AOR letter from CIC?

Hi All,

Hoping you can shed some light. We've received SA letter on Oct 16 from CIC via email that had standard wording - approval and the fact the the file was transferred to the Lima office. Today, I received the exact same letter (just with the date changed), almost 10 days later.. ECAS is still showing in Process for both Sponsor and Applicant (though applicant has 3 lines saying they've started to process the application on Oct 14).

So what is going on? I know CIC can sometimes not send an AOR letter, but never heard of sending it twice. Is it just a glitch and our timeline remains the same, or should I now be counting from today? Also, is the third line in ECAS effectively AOR2, or does a separate email arrive from the Lima office?

That's a recent thing, they send one AOR to the applicant and one to the sponsor.

That's not it actually, because both are addressed to me, and sent to my email address. Everything else is identical, except the date.

Hmm I wonder if Lima sent that letter, does the date on the letter match the ECAS in process date?

I was thinking that too, but then imagined the wording would be different (i.e. why say the file was transferred to Lima office if they are the one sending it). Plus they are both signed by CIC Case Processing Mississauga. The in process date on the applicant side says Oct 14:

We received X application for permanent residence on August 19, 2015.
We started processing X application on October 14, 2015.
Medical results have been received.

So strange. I just hope the email is just a duplicate, as the dates haven't changed. Though ECAS is slow to update, so I guess its possible it might in the future.
