I understand what you are going through. I did this mistake once for my china trip. But again its not a wise decision to book your flight before getting your passport stamped.

I think there is not any disadvantage in raising a webform, you should do it just for being at safe side

You can send one. It can take up to a month for any response by your officer. You will get a generic email saying it was received. What is status of your file - eligibility, background, medical.
