Yes it applies to you too. It sucks. I am in the same boat too. Have been here for 3 years now.

This petition is for people like you:

Torontosm :You do know the PR card is for the purpose of travel. so if you living in canada and do not plan to leave at all even for some time then it might work for you. but in most cases ppl do travel and sometimes emergencies arise and they end up being out of country for longer. so will that mean you are not planning to live in canada anymore by any way? and because you had to leave now you are trying hard to contribute towards citizenship days. soo my point is the restrictions. I think most are very one track mind as in their whole family and generations are here soo they dont need to travel. Well thats not the case for everyone, we been contributing from years but been living here alone without family, so its not ok to leave if we have to see them or emergency. Why is it only for forgiegn workers and pre PR days, what about in between. As i said in my case i will be missing 4 days by end of yr and thats crap.

Anybody here know when is the second reading of this bill in "House of commons"? Hope it will take at least end of April to become a law...

Hope it NEVER becomes law

I was looking at the parliament website.. This bill took only 3 days to pass.. with 3 reading in commons and 3 reading in senate... http://www.parl.gc.ca/LEGISInfo/BillDetails.aspx?Language=E&Mode=1&billId=6314588

Here is the link to the bill:
http://www.parl.gc.ca/LEGISInfo/BillDetails.aspx?Language=E&Mode=1&billId=6401990

I will use a website monitoring service to receive alerts when there are changes to the above page ;)

I was just giving an example that a bill can pass in 3 days.. Hope it doesn't happen the same with this bill..

After Mar 7.. next sitting for house of commons is only Mar 24.. let see..

The following one took 2 months

Let's be pessimistic !!

It may take 1 to 3 months at least

Remember, there are no sessions for 2 weeks in March!
Fingers crossed

The whole procedure may take 1 to 3 months. However, if we report our MPs that this is affecting us to some/great extent, it might take little longer......say....3 to 9 months

Yea.. lets hope for best... as u said if thre is no opposition to the bill then within a month.. But somebody here was saying the last citizenship bill in 2007 or 8 , they took 1 year to implement it after passing the law.. I think get their systems going they may need time.. Lets hope.. By the way when is ur time to apply.
