I guess you are not that late for the PP,...it's hardly 40 odd days but if you still feel its marginally late, do consider the ongoing strike by canadian immigration staff. Best of luck

Thanks for the information that there is a strike going on by Canadian immigration staff, I was not aware of it. What is the reason for strike?
Where has your application for permanent residence reached? I hope you know how hard it is to wait at this time when u know all is done and u want to see the visa stamped on your passport.

Yes mridul, you are right...it's quite hard to wait any extra second at this stage. I am sure you will get it in the coming week, inshAllah. It's all about wages.

wanted to inquire if anyone recently has gone for short stays......and if they encountered any problem while going out of canda wdt PR card.

I think the only caution that you need to take is ...not to reveal your short stay plans at port of entry and that's all, no issues upto this stage. However such frequent trips should be avoided. Wish you very best of luck with your future plans. Please do share with us your landing experience once you touch the land.

Canada Diplomats Intensify StrikeTORONTO--Canadian foreign-service officials walked out of some of the country's busiest embassies as they stepped up a months-long protest aimed at getting higher wages.

Members of the Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers--the union representing 1,350 active and retired foreign-service employees--walked out of embassies in cities that included London, Paris and Tel Aviv on Thursday and from the country's busy immigration- and visa-processing offices in India and China. In Canada, 400 foreign-service officials walked out of the headquarters of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Ottawa.

"The union is seeking wage adjustments to keep Foreign Service Officer pay in line with comparable employment groups in the federal government," a union spokesman said in an emailed statement.

In May, union members went on strike at five Canadian missions in Africa and at the country's embassy in Mexico City. Earlier that month, foreign-service workers at Canada's most important embassy--in Washington--went on a one-hour, lunchtime march with placards reading "Same Work Equals Same Pay."

The union says its members have been without a contract since July 2011, and negotiations have been at an impasse for over a year on the issue of wages.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade said that there has been no impact on operations in Canada or abroad. The department "will take any necessary action to ensure that we continue to provide services to Canadians at home and abroad," a spokeswoman said in an emailed statement.

A spokesman for the Treasury Board--the government department in charge of public-sector compensation and operations--didn't immediately respond to requests for comment.

I recenly went to calgary for short landing of 15 and came back. If u have return tickets thare is no issue coming back without pr cards.

great, i think only the ones who get themselves registered with CIIP are invited. Don't forget to share with us the contents if you attend. Will it be from your own pocket !
