Yes still here and waiting but I think we will be finished soon hopefully. They asked us for docs 4 times and we had an interview ??? ???

I haven't logged in for awhile but when I did I was surprised to see not a lot of people had received their PPR yet, I thought for sure I was going to be the last one still waiting cause it's been so long

Hello everyone,

I'm a Canadian that's currently in the process of sponsoring my Brazilian wife, and I'm a little confused as to what the SP Visa Office has to do with Sponsorship applications, as I was told the decision process is done within Canada?

Welcome!

If you're applying with the new process that was released in December that might be correct... I'm not sure. Most, if not all of us here, applied outland with the old process where the sponsor's eligibility is determined in Canada before the application is sent to the visa office that serves the country of nationality of the primary applicant (or the country where the PA has been legally admitted for at least one year). With the old process, different visa offices have different wait times and patterns (like Sao Paulo not sending AOR2, while some other VOs do). It helps to hear about the experience of other applicants being processed by the same VO as you to know what's considered normal with the VO and to talk about country specific things like what translator to use, how to get certain required documents from your government, etc.

Are you using the new or old application? Have you sent it in yet? When?

Thanks a lot for your reply! I'm using the new application, and I will be sending it soon. It's been pretty nerve racking, but I think it's all ready. Now the suspense begins. Have you or anyone linked your account to the application before CIC receives it?

I'm in Canada right now with my wife, I came back last month but my visitor visa on my passaport ll expire on March, the question is: I got a stamp when I arrived that allows me to stay until July 24 so should I worried about extend my stay next month or can I take July as the date to my visa expire?

I read in the October thread that Ligia's background check has changed to "in progress"! It's got me wondering how long the BC usually takes and about how long to PPR after that. Anyone know? I just love seeing progress, even if it's with other people's applications! It makes the waiting more exciting and keeps me positive!

Are there any other updates?

Looks like I am a few weeks behind Ligia, but for what it is worth we received an email today asking us to submit and updated criminal record check. The status on the website didn't change yet though.

Its great to see another BC IP! We're hoping ours will change to IP late this month or early next month as we're about a month behind you! I'm still checking MyCIC everyday! Lol But I never really have hope that anything has changed, I just want to check incase it has.

I'm not sure if you can send the ROPRF receipt before they ask. We sent ours right away with the whole application. You can always pay it and send a copy of the receipt through email or case specific enquiry, and if they don't add it to your file for whatever reason they'll ask for it later and then you can send it then.

I am new here. I am Canadian who sponsored his common-law spouse from Brazil. We applied outland on September 21, 2016, app received and in-processing in SP on October 28th. I've noticed that JZ_SP is basically the same time so that's nice to know. I am hearing people getting updates and I was wondering if JZ_SP or anyone else for that matter were able to link their application? I am only getting updates on the "application status" page on CICs website. Any feedback would be appreciated as I think things are getting really close.

Unfortunately there's been only 1 PPR over past 3 months. Glad to hear updates are made to background checking for some members. Our ECAS and MyCIC application link is frozen since September: no updates whatsoever. Last January I, sponsor, wrote to the consulate. Got a standard reply saying if they need anything from us, we'd be contacted. Furthermore, they said, processing time for this category is 12 months (the web used to say 10).

This month will be 6 months since our application was transferred. As part of package I included every possible document needed such background checking from both countries, several proofs of common law, trips, paid all fees upfront, etc. I spent 3 months putting the package together. In my mind, they have everything handy to make a decision about my partner. If they do have questions, an interview should be requested. Silence, just silence we are getting back from SPVO.

Probably they said processing times are 12 months because that's the current processing time and they didn't bother to check when rio2016 applied before responding. I'm really hoping that this is the case! I'm also hoping that the recent slow down at SPVO is because of Christmas, New Years, summer vacations, and Carnaval - now that those things have all passed I hope the processing times will pick up again!

By the way, I did mention 10 months processing time in my email to them. Here's their reply in Portuguese:

"Queira notar que seu caso foi recebido em Setembro de 2016 e que o mesmo encontra-se em espera para avaliação. Neste estágio, nenhuma ação é necessária de sua parte. Vale ressaltar também que atualmente, o tempo médio de processamento para esta categoria, em nosso escritório, é de 12 meses. Caso mais informações ou documentos sejam necessários, entraremos em contato com você."

That's good to hear! I hope they're working even faster than before the holidays!
We got SA a little more than a month after you and JZ_SP and Ligia, so I hope we'll see our BC change to IP in a months time or less! Until then I'm sure I'll keep checking every day! Lol!

Hopefully we'll start to see some PPRs come out soon!
