Hello everyone,

I recently applied for a common law sponsorship, July 22nd, 2015 (being processed Outland). I received an AOR on August 20th, however I am still waiting for SA.

I've called the CIC call centre three times in regards to this issue here are the results:

1. They were still processing applications received one day earlier than mine and agent told me the file was still in process.

2. I called again when my application date was one day after those being processed so the agent decided that because I was so close and they hadn't updated the website in a week, that she decided to escalate my application.

3. I called again to see if I could get an update on my file and was told that the processing center has up to 90 days to respond to the escalation and that all I can do is wait. He did however mention that it looked like my file was complete.

I think that it would be completely unfair if I had to an additional 90 days to process my file, which I believe is fairly standard (I.e, I'm a canadian citizen, I've never sponsored anyone before, no kids, no divorces, I have a really good job and I've never been on welfare, etc.)

This is causing me a lot of anxiety. Would some one have any recommendation on what I can do at this point? At the call centre, can they check my file further?

Thank you in advance for your help, it is much appreciated!!

You cannot make your application be processed any quicker, sorry... I know this is not what you want to hear. People at call centres generally cannot give you any specific details, from what you are saying they were referring all the time to information posted online... this is also what I experienced in trying to contact CIC officers. My SA was on June 10th and until September 24th I didn't hear a thing from them, so worried that my application is at the bottom of the ocean I called them many times to ask about location of my application. As you can imagine, I got no useful responses, just reassurances that I have nothing to worry about.

They have had our application since Apr 2014....always plan on it taking the longest amount of time and hope it processes faster....I am the Canadian in my situation as well so I get it but CIC has nothing to do with Families and fairness...

Oh jcallahan I was hoping you'd have heard by now :(

I had a quick look at the Warsaw spreadsheet and there are others who's files exceeded 60 days to get SA. As hard as it must be, try not to stress too much.
I sent a cse to London VO to see if they'd received my part of the application. I explained it had been over the published processing time for SA and that my hubby hadn't been able to speak to anyone at the call centre because he kept getting cut off. They replied straight away !!!!! saying they hadn't received our file and to keep trying CPC-M. The next time my husband rang (a day later) we finally got SA over the phone. Anything's worth trying... So maybe you could do a similar thing and see if you can get an answer that way. It's doubtful, but you never know! Pm me if you want to keep in touch :)

It took me 77 or 80 days to get my SA while all summer long on their website it was saying 55 to 58 days and I was seeing applicants 2 weeks after me receiving their SA it made me impatient knowing also I had to deal with Quebec and that I needed this letter... everytime I called they were saying your application seems fine we sent them an e-mail to know what's happening... then 3rd time I called they finally said yesterday they sent a letter... I thought I would receive this letter within 2-3 days but after a week I called again saying it doesn't take a week to send a letter Mississaga to Montreal and this "nice" agent told me something about it takes like 4 weeks for the letter processing which I never really understand what it was about and I kept wondering why the other guy said they sent it already if there is a 4 weeks process... So finally after 3 weeks I received an e-mail... CIC has mysterious way

Thank you all for your responses, they are reassuring. I will probably keep calling once a week to see if I can get any information and hope for the best! I just wish they had standardized communications at the processing centre.. Not knowing is the hardest part!

Have you confirmed with the call centre whether or not your application is file as inland or outland, i state this because when i submitted my application they classified my file as an inland application instead of outland due to an error by the mail clerk in Missassauga placing the file in the wrong pile. It took a month of persistent calls to fix the problem and for them to classify the file as an outland application. In total it took 3 months to receive SA. My advice to you is to confirm with CIC whether or not its being classified as an Inland or Outland application.

calling once a week will not expedite the process.

While you may not agree, I would hang tight. Check your junk mail folders and be patient. It took just about a month and a half to receive SA after AOR.

I agree, I don't think it will speed anything up, but it will give me peace of mind. I think they have sped up the processing times however as a lot of July applicants you submitted more than a week after me are being approved.
