If you used UPS i can tell you that once it gets to rome, you just need to keep checking the tracking number for your prepaid envelope, because they never emailed me to say visa is ready for pick up...once my application was closed and approved on my cic, the day after the tracking number was active, so they realeased without emailing me hope it helps!

What about your background check is still not applicable or in process.
I asked because my background check a week ago changed from not applicable to in process but I haven't receive anything.

How much time from passport request till Visas are issued?

But how did you deliver your UCI number to the ups delivery man??? cause they don't release the visas until the courier is identified with your UCI number...

You dont need to give your UCI number to the ups delivery man...and in my case its not true that they dont release visa until courier is identified. Thats what they say in the email, but apparently they gave mine to ups without any problems, because the day after that mycic account changed to approved the tracking number was active and it took 2 days to come back to Canada. Anyways long story short ;D Just send them what they asked for in the ups envelope, and put another prepaid envelope inside. You will see once your application is approved...if they email you, you call ups and tell them to pick up, or else it means that you have to check your tracking number because they realeased it. UPS goes there almost everyday so i dont see why not give it to the ups man...if you have more question im here

If we live in Italy, can we just drop off the passport at the Embassy? Or does the passport have to be delivered to the embassy as a mail?
Same question goes for pick up? Can we just opt to pick up the passport in person from the embassy? Or do they just mail it to everyone?

I don't know about dropping off, but i'm sure that you can go pick it up on your own. The only thing is that you have to set up an appointment with them, you can't just show up there to pick it up...anyways you will get an email that explains to you everything when you get PPR.
