I sent my application Dec 5th 2016 and it got transferred to Rome on Dec 28th 2016.
I'm from Italy and already in Canada at the moment ....I know @Arb1985 that they changed the style but till yesterday morning it was saying Your application is in progress. The next step is to conduct a background check...now it changed to we are processing your background check

I applied outland. Mississauga received my application on September 2nd, while Rome started processing it on October 17.
Today i received the mail to send my passport, although on my CIC and on ECAS the application is not closed, and decision says not made.

i also applied for family sponsorship i sent my application and was received 17 February and got Aor2 on march 14

procesing time -federal stage for applicants of Quebec (QSW) is 13 months.

Someone in RVO, must liked your file, maybe because you are italian..
I sent my application on 20st of Sep 2016 and Background check still "in progress" (new style) almost 5 months of wait now.
It took you, what? 3 months? that is nothing.. you are lucky.
If it says "we are processing your background check" they are working on your case.

Yes I know the average overall duration is 13 months. But I noticed that the duration of Rome is longer. 7 months have already passed since my shipment, is it normal not to have received the medica request?

can you tell us if your GCKey in (new style) is -Background check "in progress"
because with new style my background check from "in progress" passed to "we are processing your background check"

I don't know if has any changes from "in progress" to "we are processing your background check"

nowadays applicants of may 2016 have received request for medicals.

I have a friend who sent his application in October 2016, received the AOR on February 19th which today receives the request for medical visit and payment of the permanent residence fee ..
We will never understand the logic with which they work.
