they asked for a scanned copy of my passport.So i need to wait to mail me the visa or i should get in and out the country to get my passport stamped? they will give me instructions of what i need to do but if anyone knows it would be appriciated

They should send you a document that shows you have been approved for the permanent residency. You can't get in and out of country without it.

i have to wait the copy of passport with visa and it is the end.

I applied (My wife is sponsoring me) and my application was started to be processed in September. From what i read from the forums, the Rome office takes a long time. I was hopping six months would be enough but now i am not so sure. Any of you could give me a hint of how much time it usually takes from the Rome office?

So myCIC says basically:

We received Myname's application for permanent residence on September 2, 2016.
We started processing Myname's application on October 17, 2016.
Medical results have been received.


From what i read here, when it is going well it should also say
Backgroung check in progrees???
Or i get some other type of notification?

Yes, if bacground check changes to on progress it takes about 10 days to receive an email from them.
You need to have access to mycic and ecas.

I applied on June 22nd. My husband's application was sent to Rome on Aug 18th, today I received passport request. I know people whose application got approved in 3 -4 months time. So you never know with Rome. I think Rome is working faster now. You should be done within 6 months.

First of all i wish you good luck and i suggest you to have a lot of patience. I got passport reguest at 30/01/2017 so that seems to be finalized soon. They received my application at 11/7/2016 , they started proccessing it at August , got sponsor Aprroval at 25/8 and since then i was waiting and waiting adn waiting and waiting any news from Rome . So , in total , the whole proccedure lasted 6-7 months , which is quite fast.
You have to consider that
1) The proccesing time of application depends for when and where are you aplying , (New application package or old)
2) Any erros or mistakes of filling up the application could delay the proccess
3) I suggest you pay all the fees upfront
4) MEdicals should be accepted
5) Respond immidiatelly to anything they request. ( additional documents)
6) Register to my cic , link your application there and you will have more informations about your account . http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/e-services/account.asp
