Hey I just got my application returned in the mail for the following reasons.

You must provide a current and completed Schedule A (IMM5669) bearing a signature. This form should be completed for the Principal Applicant (Regardless of age) and all dependants aged 18 and over, whether accompanying or not. This form is available at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouce.asp. - This form was included in the pakage completely and accurately filled out

You must provide a current and completed Spouse/Common-Law Questionnaire (IM5285 08/2013 or later) bearing a signature. Refer to the CIC Website at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouce.asp for further instructions. - This form was also filled out completely in the package

Other: You must provide a current and completed Additional Family Information form (IMM 5406) bearing a signature. This form should be completed for the Principal Applicant (regardless of age) and all dependants aged 18 and over, whether accompanying or not. This form is available at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouce.asp. - I must admit I missed this one

But with the other two, they were both included and completely filled out and signed, I have no idea why they were returned I have double and Tripple checked them and I still can not find anything wrong with them. I am at a loss people.... 4 months of waiting down the drain :(

It is quite possible the forms you used were out of date. Did you fill them out a while before submitting the application? I would double check on the CIC website to see if they have been updated recently. They could have been 100% completed but if they're an older version, CIC won't accept them. Sorry to hear your application got returned :(

um we sent the files in February I looked at my 5285 form and it is older than their current one..... Time to redo the forms, would it be a safe bet to redo all my forms before sending them in again? and do I have to pay the charges again, or is the old receipt still good?

IMM5285 is only for inland applications. Going from your previous posts, you were applying outland. Did you decide to file inland instead or have you mixed up the application packages?

Why did you decide to change to inland? There really is no advantage for an American to apply inland.

With the inland app returned, you should consider changing to an outland app.

Some of the forms are the same and could be used again. Be sure to check the publication dates to make sure no other forms have been updated since you filled them out. Some will need to be re-done, such as the ones that generate barcodes.

In my opinion, there is higher chance of error doing it that way(i.e. could end up with a mixture of outland and inland forms) It is better to use new forms entirely from the outland package(if switching over) to be on the safe side. It will be just a matter of transcribing from the old forms onto the new ones and should not take too long.

Not to mention the variation of dates of signatures between the old and new forms.

Also, for forms asking about current residence and/or employment, the old forms would have shown the `current' date, or month and year, as several months ago, while a new form would shown today's date, or month/year.

Sorry to hear your situation. But it may be a blessing in disguise. Apply outland this time if you think it suits you both better.

yes, there is NO benefit for a US citizen to apply inland. I hope you take this as a sign to apply OUTLAND! Outland apps can remain in canada as visitors during the process. a US applicant is looking at at least 8 months of not working in Canada either way. with an outland application, the total wait time is half that of inland. Having a remote job for a us employer is the best option to have.

That may not be entirely true, but it is strongly advised that an American at least consider an Outland application if they are in Canada...that's for sure!
