Restoration of Status - Letter of Interest Recieved - Help please

Hey guys,

So I am trying to apply for restoration of status and a visitor visa within the next two weeks, I received the Letter of Interest from the Province of Ontario on Thursday, in the form it states you have to show your status in canada (student/visitor/worker) . I am putting together my documents to send to them as I also hope when I get the AOR I can then apply for a bridge open work permit and get back to working.

Does anyone have any idea what I do? Do I send off my restoration request then send of my documents to province of Ontario showing them that I had sent off my request for restoration of status?

Any suggestions would greatly help , I don't want to miss out on this letter of Interest from Ontario as I have been waiting for over 6 months and below 450. I'm sure someone has to go to be in a similar situation or someone knows something about this.

Hi, given that you need to have legal status first before potentially getting OINP, you should make sure your status is confirmed first.

Doing this and then sending your documents to apply for OINP will give your application more credibility. I say this because while you can say your status is pending they can come back and say we won't process your application until your status is confirmed. Don't give them reason to question you. Get your status secured first. Doing this will increase your chances of success in your application.

the restoration of status could take more than two months to process and i have to submit my papers to ontario before the two months . I had seen people send off their restoration of status first and get the confirmation it has been received then send off their papers to the province.

I just do not want to miss the deadline to send in my papers is my fear.

I understand what you're saying. But similar to my situation where I'm about to potentially lose my ITA due to a technical aspect of the EE system, and an ambiguity in the law it depends on the processing officer handling your case.

If the law strictly says you must have 'status' and you say I've applied for status, the processing officer could go strictly by the letter of the law. You're giving them s reason to question you and potentially decline your application.

If you get a lenient processing officer then no problem but you are taking that risk.

I see what you are saying, it will unfortunately be a risk I would have to take at this point. I hope my lawyer can look deeper into this and I get someone very lenient.

Travelling within Canada is no problem as until your status is restored you are on an 'Implied Status' from the date of receipt of application until your application is accepted or rejected.

Travelling internationally presents another challenge as depending on the country of your nationality for which you carry a passport you may have to apply for a tourist visa to re-enter Canada if not from a visa exempt country (If you are a US citizen this does not apply).

You may also face a sticter line of questioning from the border officer who may think that you have ulterior motives in applying to gave your status restored but then undertaking international travel.

I know theseay not be the answers you want to read but better to plan ahead for the worst case scenario than to paint a rosy picture (pardon the pun).

Sorry what I meant is when I send in my application for restoration of status and also request a visitors visa - can I also include a separate document stating that I would like to travel in Canada as I have been working and going to school and haven't had time.

I am trying to increase my chances that I do get the visa.

To travel in Canada the letter would definitely support your cause as all you doing is visiting places of interest, and spending your own money on transportation, meals and accommodation.
