hey,

I'm a Canadian PR, residing in BC. I moved my job to US (Company internal transfer) in last(2022) November.

I'm planning to sponsor my wife's PR, is it okay to declare that I moved my job to US and working remotely from Canada and have no Canadian income at the moment. (did anyone try this before? is it even allowed when sponsoring spouse?)

OR my other option is to declare i'm unemployed as I really don't have any income in CAD and comment that i'm living off my savings.

I know neither sound really great? but appreciate thoughts on this.

Thx!

As long as you properly file your US income in your tax return with CRA, that's fine.

I am in the same shoe with OP. And wonder if there’s successful case or data point for him/her

It's quite routine and lots of cases. As above, if you're employed in US but paying taxes in Canada, no issue. As with other PR sponsorship apps, the sponsor should be in compliance with the residency obligation.
