Hi guys, I have a question just for my general knowledge, if I am not meeting the residence obligation and I still have a valid PR and I travelling back Canada.
How shall I know that I am being reported in the port?
and If I am not reported Can i enter the country and still live there until I meet this obligations?

If they report you, they will let you know about it and give you some letters to appeal. If you are not reported, you can stay for 2 years and then you will meet the obligations again.

Stamps in your passport + other registries made even when you don't have stamps in your passport. You don't know what they know. Some people have gotten away with lying in the past. Other people have the experience that immigration seems to be about 99% correct on how many days they had actually stayed.

When you enter, do not lie but also do not answer any questions they don't ask. If it comes out you haven't met the residency obligation, they will most likely just give you a stern talking to and not report you. If they do report you, you have 30 days to appeal. If you had good reasons for not being able to meet the requirements, you might keep your PR.

What I mean is that in the past, some people have managed to keep their PR or even gain citizenship by lying about being in Canada when they weren't. So it worked in the past for some people but might not work any more because they are cracking down on that now. They are actually looking at old cases again and revoking citizenship of some people who were found to have lied to immigration.

How is it possible to lie about living in Canada because of a misunderstanding? Either you were in Canada on some date or you were not. It is a simple question. I have heard of people who have had crooked consultants who advised them to file taxes in Canada in order to fake their presence and these people may have come from corrupt countries where they didn't really think it was a problem to say that they were in Canada when they weren't but immigration takes that very seriously. If you lie in order to gain your PR, in order to keep your PR or in order to gain citizenship and they find out, they can strip you of everything and send you packing.

We are speaking about different things custom and immigration.
That's right. Actually it is not just spoken information because you do fill out a little customs card when you enter Canada by plane where they ask how long have you been outside Canada. However, I do not know if customs share those cards with immigration or use them in any way to determine if you meet the requirements. I have not heard of that.

people use to go for fake stamps on passport but don't even think that they don't know after 9/11 any flight coming from anywhere to Canada officers do have the list of passengers with photos. so it is serious if its valid they can't say anything come and spend 2 yrs if not then don't go otherwise will end up in applying for travel doc.
