4 out of 6 years is supposed to be the new requirement, huh? That's not too bad. Considering that time before becoming
PR can be counted as well...
I don't think that would be so bad *if* the processing time for applications comes down to 12 months the way they are forecasting it will, but as we all know from such efforts with other CIC managed programs once people catch up with the new system it doesn't take too long for the backlogs to return. The combination of extending the years of residency required and not being able to count *any* time prior to receiving PR is a bit of a bummer too.
/edit: This kind of illustrates what I'm talking about: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/backgrounders/2014/2014-02-06g.asp
They are predicting an enormous drop in the backlog, of course, because they are planning to make a huge group of people who would be eligible today or would be eligible in the near future ineligible (at least until they are here for more years). Seems pretty similar to how they "reduced" the backlog on the FSW by killing it for a few years.
