Requesting visitor visa extension

Hi,

My american wife and I (I'm Canadian) just got married and are in the process of applying to CIC for her PR. It will take 3-4 months to get all the documents we need and she has already been in Canada for 4 months. We were suggested to request a visitor visa extension for her to stay until we're able to actually file the PR application, so an extra few months. We have a couple questions regarding this extension request:

1) She is between jobs at the moment, and I'm providing for her while she is here. Is a financial statement from my bank (showing only my personnal bank account for the last 5 months) enough to demonstrate that I can provide for her? (I really can, I'm just not sure how to demonstrate it)

2) She has to return to the States in 60 days, do we even have a chance to get it before she has to go? (We will be applying online in the next couple of days for faster processing time.)

3) We don't have our wedding certificate yet, it's one of the documents we're waiting for in the mail. We do have an official copy of the paper we had to sign on the day of our wedding, and we're planning on attaching that to the request. Any other documents would be relevant to add to our extension request?

Thanks so much in advance for all the inputs! :)

1. You can do this if you wish.

2. An extension request is unlikely to happen in that time. If she is leaving within the originally granted period, why would you apply for an extension?
How long has she been in canada?

3. You could pay for your PR application and include a copy of the receipt.

Thanks Baloo!

To answer your question, she's been here for 4 months, needs to return in 2, and we require 4-5 more to be able to apply.

When she leaves Canada and returns the clock is reset, she gets another 6 months (assuming she is allowed in).
