I recently got a letter from NewDelhi office requesting for completing the Medical Examination and sending the passport to New Delhi office within 45 days. Presently I am in the United States of America on work and will continue to reside here for a year. I have sent a letter to New Delhi office intimating them change of address after I got the letter. I have not received any update that they have changed that information.

Since I am already in a foreign country, will it be possible for me to send my passport and my wife’s passport to Canadian Consulate in India? Is it not illegal to stay in a foreign country without a passport? I have sent a case specific enquiry and they have not responded.

If I have to send it to New Delhi office then from the day the office receives the passports, how many days will it take for them to send it back to me?

Can somebody tell me what I should be doing?

Thanks in advance

1. You should know that it is illegal to mail Indian passports in/out of India. Even if you are able to mail them to ND, they won't mail them back. They will send them to an address in India only. So you are either going to take them yourself or have someone with your authorization take them for you and return them

Deme,

Similiar situation has been discussed in this forum many a times in the past. You can search for the specific subject and go through the experiences shared by others in a similiar situation. It is a tricky situation and you should consult with others before deciding. Sending passports through Courier is a no-no... Look for other options .

All the best !!

Dear Everyone,
I have received the passport request from NDVO and I am living in Japan. Most of the courier companies have denied except the DHL which has agreed to send my passport from Japan to NDVO.According to DHL,a passport can be from embassy to embassy or from individual to embassy if a accompanied with a letter for the customs clearance.
On showing the letter from NDVO they have agreed to send my passport.

Has anyone been in the similar situation of mailing passports across the borders which is an way illegal?

Also does NDVO provides extension for passport submission dates when the candidate is living overseas?
Regards,
Manish
