Request some old documents from IRCC ,for PR application made in 2012

how to get some documents for PR application , paper based application that i submitted in 2012, i need some supporting documents that i included in the application, how to get them

is there a way to get the papers online, instead of regular mail.

Warning, I do not know for certain that this will work: you can apply for access to information for your file/application, there is an option to request all documents related to your file, and that should give you a complete copy of your original application. I believe they now return these by email if you request that.

What I do not know is whether they retain all files from 10 years ago or some subset, their own archiving requirements may have changed. Even simple requests are taking longer than 30 days now and something that likely is in 'deep archive' (document mountain storage) may well also add time to getting it back.
