Hello,

My parents got a request to bring a Police certificate ONLY from one country - where they live now. But both of them were born in Russia and moved to other the country at age 36.

On the letter from the Canadian Embassy they didn't request requested to get also from Russia.

Should they provide that document as well even though was not requested?

Thank you!

It says:

Police Certificate: Please provide an original police clearance certificate: x2 from Israel

But they also lived in Russia and nothing was requested... so I am wondering if I they still need to request?

Than you.

They are very specific. Make sure to get what they need. No worry about Russia.

following is from CIC web site

Who needs a police certificate?
In general, you and all the people in your family who are 18 or older need to get a police certificate.

You may need a police certificate from any country or territory that you have spent six months or more since the age of 18.

For example: if you visited, worked or lived in a country for two months, left for a few years, then returned for four months, that counts as spending six months there. In this case, you would need a certificate.

If you need a police certificate from a country or territory and:

•are currently living there, or received the police certificate before leaving, the police certificate must be issued within six months before you apply.
•have lived there in the past, the police certificate must be issued after you last lived in that country or territory.

My guess is that when they immigrated to the different country they provided PCC from Russia and a new PCC will show all the info.
If they are that specific I wouldn't worry about Russian PCC

In the past my parents visited 3 of times to USA and 1 time to Canada. during each visit, they never stayed more than Four months in a Year.

Technically when we read the CIC Web site it says the following

For example: if you visited, worked or lived in a country for two months, left for a few years, then returned for four months, that counts as spending six months there. In this case, you would need a certificate.

But getting PCC from USA is a very lengthy process, so i took a risk based on the following, the letter that i have received it clearly said get PCC from India (Note my parents live in India)

######## - First name middle Name Last name:

therefore i have not applied PCC in USA or CANADA, just applied from India and have it submitted 45 days ago, my status has changed to background check: in progress

You are right. But they didn't mentioned that, so I thought they should...
It must be generic letter where they just put one request without further explanation.

When I got requested PCC, the letter sounded like they needed several documents, but I figured only one was needed, the from of the request was just generic. But if you want to feel safe call CIC or send Case Inquiry question just to be safe
