My mom runs a tea room, and she was approached by a reporter the other day who asked her if there was anything going on that she was frustrated about. One of the things that she mentioned was the struggle of immigration, and how my husband's employer was denied a renewal of the LMO due to the high percentage of unemployment here. The reporter wants to question me about our situation. If it were you, would you do it? Is there anything you might avoid talking about? He has been out of work for over 2 years now, and while he loves our kids, he hates that I have to support him. Two years of being a house husband is not something he was made to do. He has been a trooper about it, but enough is enough.

I personally wouldn't - but it's your call.

I sometimes work with the media in my job. The reality is that you have absolutely no control over how they quote you. They can't say you said something you didn't. But they can use partial quotes - and you also have no control over the context your quote is placed in. This can sometimes result in your quote taking on a different meaning than you intended.

I'm personally not comfortable having my name listed in such a public way while having no control over how my words are used. But to each his own...

I personally wouldn't especially if my husband is still going through the immigration process but the decision is yours to make. Hope all works out for your family whatever you decision you make.

For what it's worth, I also wouldn't . . . The media can be brutal with "partial quotes" already mention above.

If you decide to talk to them be as vague as possible. I use to be an Elected School Board Member in the US and when I was the president of the board there were several times I had to talk to reporters and even times that they came to our board meetings, due to angry community members and I knew I had to be very careful how I phrased everything I said. I was interviewed on camera a couple times as well and that was scary knowing that if I said anything that could be taken differently than I meant it they may use it in a way I did not mean. So be very very careful what and how you answer their questions. I know for me I would not talk to them if I did not have to.

What makes you afraid of reporter? They won't kill you anyway. Is it recording interview? to be on TV?
so if your face won't show up on the cam, why you dont tell your story? No need to mention your name neither ur spouse! If you will be on cam, they can put some shade on you, so only your voice will be heard while none will see ur face.

Reporters generally won't quote you or tell your story unless you give your full name.

At the very least they will want your full name and since they have talked to your mom they may even want your spouses name. They will ask questions that you may have a hard time not reacting strongly to. Yes you would want to share your story and be real with your answers but sometimes the reactions speak even louder than the words. Talking to reporters can get information out there you just have to be careful how you respond and react and that is not always easy to do.

Nope! In case there is a danger or you are afraid from something, then you can hide your details and they cant provide it to whatever authority ask for it.
