Hi All,
I got my Canadian PR card in May 2016 and due to my Personal reasons I am not able to move to Canada untill second half of 2020. The PR card is valid till April 2021.

Is there any possibility to extend or renew my PR card beyound 2021 while outside canada? So that when i move to Canada in 2020, I dont face any issues with renewal/extension of my current PR card.

I would highly appriciate if someone can kindky share their experience relating to similar Situation.

Thanks and Best of luck to all

No you can not. The expiry date on your PR card is not what is important. You need to be in Canada for two years out of 5 years starting in the day you landed. You could be reported for not meeting your RO when you enter in 2020. You also can’t sponsor anyone until you are compliant with your RO so if you are now married you will have to wait a long time to sponsor a spouse.

You haven't been to Canada at all since you got your PR Card? (Apart from when you went to do your landing).

If so, then you will not be able to show that you met your residency obligations (2 years in each period of 5 years starting the day you became PR), because you'll be moving in second half of 2020.
That requirement to show residency obligations happens when it's time to renew your PR Card. When you move in mid 2020, you'll only have stayed in Canada for 1 year.

When you move to Canada, you'll still be a PR and of course be allowed to enter, but it will be clear to CBSA that you won't be able to meet your residency obligation, and can therefore report you. When it's time to renew your card, they'll see that you haven't met your obligation, and your status can be revoked.

You cannot renew your PR Card while outside Canada, nobody can anyway. Cannot be extended either.

The only way to keep it would on humanitarian and compassionate ground...
