What was the code on her PRTD? R-1 or RC-1?

The document that was issued for her to return is a PRTD. If that's the visa in passport, look at that, there will be an issue code.

Just checked her passport stamp. It's "RC-1" with one entry. Document number starts with "G" and it expires in September. Hopefully she will receive her card before that. What does the RC-1 signify?

Very strange. Also strange that she got PRTD at the age of 22 but it was given so she she get a PR card. Would ask their MP to see if they can find out what is going on.

I have a friend who immigrated to Canada with her family when she was a child, but they went back to their home country a few months later and their PR cards expired. Last year, at age 22, she tried renewing her permanent residency by using the "Humanitarian and compassionate grounds" stream. It got approved, and they stamped her passport and was told she can come to Canada and renew her card. She did not receive any other document, not even a COPR.

She was asked a lot of questions at the airport this year, but they let her in. Her brother applied for her PR card renewal by mail, and they only received an acknowledgement of receipt document, and nothing else. She's been waiting since beginning of February with no status confirmation in Canada, or insurance, and cannot work without those docs.

She tried calling IRCC and was told to visit Service Canada. When she went, they told her she cannot do anything without the COPR doc, which she never received. There is no way for her to check her application status, if it even exists, or if it's in progress. All she has is her passport, old expired PR card from 15 years ago, and the acknoledgement of receipt.

I suggested she can send an email to IRCC with her full story and scans of the documents that she has that I mentioned above, and maybe they can give her more info on her application.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hey, I was able to link her application to my online account by using the “link application” button. Since she didn’t know her UCI or application number, I was able to use her name, DOB, and place of birth, and it was able to find her application.
However, her PR card renewal application has still been in progress since March 11 (7 months!!) and still no updates. She still doesn’t have a SIN

Although pretty unusual she did get to retain her PR status at 22 without her family ever establishing themselves in Canada so she is still very lucky although she may not feel that way at the moment. Has she contacted her MP to find out what is the reason for the long processing time? Not sure if they can ask questions about files that aren’t Afghanistan related yet.

I get my PRTD for HC but with R-1 not RC-1 and the document number start with G, have u an idea ?!

That's the non-H&C code. It means that once you return to Canada you need to spend two years in Canada before you'll be able to renew your PR card.

It seems they didn’t find your H&C compelling enough to provide an RC-1, but did feel you deserved the opportunity to return and attempt to maintain your PR.

The problem that they gave me only three weeks of validity of my prtd, while the validity of prtd is generally six months

Hi all, has anyone here applied for pr renewal with H & C and got her pr card?
I applied on May and my status is still in process. They told me that they have sent my application to local office of the city I’m residing.
