Oakville is a good location. Nice.
Mississauga is a great location and closer to downtown than Oakville... Good transit system...
Then there's North York, Richmond Hill, some of Etobicoke... etc...
I wasn't sure about Oakville either, regarding the distance (half an hour drive to downtown TO) but Missisauga or Scarborough and the rest you mentioned, sound nice too.
I wonder if Calgary is a better place to settle than TO or vise versa, or Ottawa. I can't choose.
Calgary is equally a good place to settle down. Toronto is kind of busy, unless you move to the suburbs.
Choosing a place to settle down is a difficult thing to do through a discussion forum. You may hear feedback left, right, and center, which might leave you confused to make a decision.
Landing in april 2010. Which areas of calgary r better to reside?(safe and clean). From my research of calgary, I found that staying in SW or NW is better than NE/SE.
Toronto Life magazine has a neighbourhoods section as does the city:
