I have an Uncle who lives in Ontario, Canada and I have included this detail in my express entry profile. I answered 'Yes' because I do and he is a Canadian Citizen. However I read that they will want you to prove the relationship. He is my Father's brother. He is an uncle I see once every couple of years (typically at family events) and speak to on special holidays. We are not very close although I do believe he would help me if I need him to. I have been trying to call him for the past few weeks and I cant get to him. However in order for me to prove he is my uncle I need to have my fathers birth certificate and my uncle's birth certificate to show they have the same parents, and I have to prove that he is a Canadian citizen. My father has his birth certificate but I cant be sure my uncle does and he was born in Jamaica so its not like its easy to get a replacement. I also haven't been able to reach him. It seems like such a hassle when the relative in Canada doesn't increase my CRS score and I don't need to have relatives to score over 67 points to qualify. I fear if I answer 'No' to the relatives question it means I am misrepresenting, but I also cant be forced to get documents from my uncle he might not even have. Also, knowing how prevalent discrepancies can be on birth certificates of folks around my uncle and father age it could also be possible that there is some error on the birth certificate which prevents me from using it. I just want to remove him from my Express Entry profile. Can I safely do this?
I am hoping that Ontario nominates me or at least send an expression of interest. However the few times I have visited Canada I have ONLY been to Ontario. I also live in the US and a few hours away from the Ontario border, so I do have some connection without my uncle.
