Hi Friends,

I heard from the few consultants that now the Canadian Embassy is rejecting Student Visa for Engineering Graduates those who are going for courses level of Diploma and Adv. Diploma.

ie Engineering graduates must got for Post Graduates / Certificate courses no Diploma no Adv Diploma.

Please let me know is this real situation. I think most of engg graduates will be affected by this rule.....

Hi

First of all I wonder how consultants came up with a right suggestion( that is very rare :D).Well, it is not a rule infact it is common sense. If you have graduation in a particular field and still show your desire to pursue a course which is at a lower level than a degree( diploma and advanced diploma), this clearly shows you intention to settle in Canada rather than your desire to study. And chances for rejection are very high excluding some lucky ones who get it. It is not only for engineering students but for every graduate.I would suggest you to go for masters, if not possible at least a post graduate diploma. That will increase your cases for a positive result.Good luck !

No their is no such rule. It's just a rumour. Infact one member on this forum Amee recently got her visa. She is BE and going for computer programmer diploma course and many other examples. so i believe getting a visa depends on luck and ofcourse overall profile matters a lot. :)

Very True Lovely!!!

There are trillions of cases dat i saw !! it all about documentation, proper filling up of forms ,attractive(questionaire).

i got rejected for the same reason ...

i would suggest if u r b.e. or b.tech. student then DON'T go for diploma or advance diploma ....

just becoz of it , i m so screwed right now ..... i wil hv to apply under general category next time , n i guess in that category , chances of getting visa is too less .. :(

Hi,

Your chances of visa approval/refusal are SAME under SPP/General.

Hi Enfield and other helping friends here,

I have few queries .

Is Post Graduation means MS,MBA,Meng only ?
What is the percentage min for MS/Meng is it 70 % ( 3 out of 4 CGPA ) ?unlucky i have got 68.5 %

what about certificate courses, but found the duration 8months to 1.5yrs.

Is there any certification courses for 2yrs, in Computer Networking field?

NB:- Is it possible to apply for 1 yr PG certificate course and once reaching Canada change the course to 2yr UG or PG course for the safe Side ;D

No PG diploma and PG certificate courses are also included in it.

You have enough to get into MS/Meng. I know one student who got admission with 61% in concordia university. Ofcourse it's tough to get into reputed universities like UofT, UBC ,York, Mcgill . But you can try in other universities also like University of ottawa, concordia , lakehead, dalhoudie, windsor, etc. they are all good for engineering students.

what about certificate courses, but found the duration 8months to 1.5yrs? certificate courses are also good which lead to 1 year of work permit after studies.

As far as i know, there is no 2 yrs PG certification course is available in colleges nor at univ. I searched a lot but didnt find it. Certificate course is mostly of 8months/12months.

you can change the course of same level(without any prob). But if u go from PG to UG then u will have to take permission from case processing centre, Alberta.
