Regarding studying in Canada while PR application is under process

Hi,

I will be eligible to apply for PR in July 2020 and also got admit to Simon Fraser University for Fall 2020 (I intend to join).
I was initially planning to apply for PR in Sept 2020 after landing in Canada on study permit and joining SFU.

However, due to COVID-19, Fall 2020 classes will be online and I cannot enter Canada at least till Jan 2021.
So if I apply for PR in August 2020 from India, and have to move to Canada on a study permit in Jan 2021 WHILE MY PR APPLICATION IS STILL UNDER PROCESS, can it cause "misrepresentation" and possible complication/rejection for PR application?

Or is it safe to apply for PR in July 2020 and just move to Canada on a study permit in Jan 2021?

You can apply for both PR and a study permit at the same time. The study permit has zero effect on the PR app.

Thanks for helping! I see, but if my PR application is in progress in Jan 2021 and I move to Canada on study visa while it's in progress, can that cause misrepresentation or risk of other problems?

As I already said, you can do both and no effect. I don't know why you think it would be misrepresentation.

I was also in a similar situation. I chose to apply for PR after coming to Canada because I was used to the US immigration system where they can consider your intent to settle in the US as going against your intent to be a non-immigrant F-1 visa student.

However, I do think I should have started my process of PR before I came to Canada (i.e. at the same time as my student permit application). I lost about 8-9 months because of that. One of my class mates did exactly this actually. Her husband had applied for PR and their application was under process. She applied for PhD after their application for PR had been submitted. So she also applied for student permit. Turned out their PR application came first and she arrived here as PR.

Hey I am in PR process too but it’s taking too long. So I was thinking of applying for study visa. Will it be okay? Will they stop my PR processing if I apply for study visa? I bc am hearing different stories, can you send me official link like on ircc or something? Thanks in advance!
