Not applicable. A passport is not an immigration document, & a PR card is not a passport 8)CanV said:I remember a discussion about how its illegal to mail passports in India. You may want to check if that applies to other immigration documents.
Unless you have a visa-exempt passport, you will need to have your PR card mailed to you.KoRnnn said:is it possible once the PR card is delivered to one of my friends address in canada, then I go back to canada to pick it up personally instead of sending the card to my home country? what would be the best option? thanks
Or, they can apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document...canuck_in_uk said:Unless you have a visa-exempt passport, you will need to have your PR card mailed to you.
There is no need to apply for a PRTD when you can simply have the PR card mailed to you. If you choose to apply for a PRTD, they will not question it.KoRnnn said:thanks for the response, however will they questioning why would i want to apply for travel document to go back to canada since the PR card is already delivered to address in canada? I believe they can somehow to check the system that the card has already issued and delivered..thanks
There IS a risk of the PR Card being lost in transit from Canada. Mine went via the USA, where the FedEx envelope was opened by US Customs. In my case, this just resulted in an extra delay in getting through the US to the UK. It was not confiscated.canuck_in_uk said:There is no need to apply for a PRTD when you can simply have the PR card mailed to you. If you choose to apply for a PRTD, they will not question it.
