Hi everyone, posting this for my sister. I'm informed in spousal sponsorship, but work visas are a different beast.

She is trying to get her boyfriend a work visa (He meets no skilled worker requirements, lives in USA and is not a Canadian PR). I already know he'll more than likely never get one, but my question is is he allowed to apply for a job while he is visiting her here (To get a job offer), or should he do it online? Mainly I don't want him getting caught up at the border and denied entry because he's searching for a job. Personally I feel the whole thing is pointless, but at least if he's going to try getting a job offer, he can at least do it the right way and not ruin chances of immigrating here in the future.

Thanks guys,

Shane

Yes - he's allowed to apply for jobs while in Canada as a visitor. However this isn't something he should advertise at the border as he could have issues entering Canada.

If he's unskilled, note that a job offer isn't enough to obtain a work permit. The employer will also need to get an approved LMIA. This is a long and expensive process for the employer with no guarantee of approval at the end. As a result, most employers aren't willing to go through the process.

Hi .. Though i am a bit off-topic and advanced, i couldn't refrain myself asking here.

My bachelor is in Computer Science and Masters in Business Administration, serving in the IT Division of a Commercial Bank. Recently I have been nominated for SASKATCHEWAN province under NOC 2171. Now waiting to apply for PR at CIC.

Meanwhile, following queries come up in my mind which needed a clear vision::
1. Is it worth to do any certification course before migration or to enroll into any university degree after migration ?
2. Since the nomination is under 2171, which course category is more demand-able ?
3. What might be the primary living cost at Saskatchewan with minimum facilities ?
4. Is it possible to get any quick (ODD) job so that a 3-member family can survive initially ?
5. What is average wage/hour ? and what could be the monthly income (approx) considering full-time/part-time/contractual jobs ?

Please suggest your expert opinions and links, which might help me to plan well in advance. Thanks..
