Does it work differently for self-employed? I thought receiving a t4 means you work for someone else. Why didn't the amount on t4 match with NOA?
Self-employed are allowed to deduct some business expenses (transportation, meals, business use of home, capital costs), this reduces the income they declare on line 150 and results in a lower tax they have to pay. So if a person is self-employed in addition to a regular job, they can have a "very unprofitable" business and "suffer loses" when they claim all business expenses they are allowed to claim by CRA and then apply their negative income declared on line 135 to their employment income declared on line 101. In this case their income on line 150 will be less than on their T4.
